Artist Comment – Tanno Hajime
I am truly honored to have my work included in the KAIJU REMIX SERIES, a lineup I have long admired. When I was in high school, I was deeply impressed by KRS, as it presented an entirely new interpretation of kaiju.
Originally, such reinterpretations felt like a sacred domain reserved only for original creators. This series played a major role in opening that world to new creators.
With that legacy in mind, I approached Gudon with sincerity. I retained the characteristic upright silhouette, the arched lower back, and the forward-thrust neck that define Gudon, while remixing them with my own style.
Rather than exaggerating volume, I focused on surface detail and incorporated imagery of subterranean insects. To reflect Gudon’s aggressive behavior in the series, I emphasized a fierce expression, especially in the face.
